The Rocks Cafe.

There’s usually a queue on weekends, as The Rocks Café is a local favourite and doesn’t take breakfast bookings. Still, we persevere and manage to snag a table within just 10 minutes which is definitely worth the small wait!

Level one at The Rocks Cafe Sydney

Although The Rocks Café offers two levels of indoor seating, we choose the outdoor area to soak up the sunshine.

Outdoors at The Rocks Cafe. Sydney.

It’s a beautiful spring day so dining alfresco feels like the perfect choice for the moment.

Breakfast menu at The Rocks Cafe Sydney.

The breakfast menu sees to have something for everyone including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

Cappuccino at The Rocks Cafe, Sydney.

Susanne starts with a cappuccino, I am not a coffee drinker (WHAT!!!???) so I stick with water. She says the cappuccino is great.

Eggs Florentine AU$19

She also goes with one of my first choices, and it looks absolutely divine, Susanne adores it. Perfectly cooked eggs with runny yolks sit atop wilted baby spinach and toasted sourdough, adorned with hollandaise sauce. As usual, I’m struck with food envy.

Classic Spanish omelette AU$29.

I order the Classic Spanish Omelette, though it wasn’t quite what I expected. I’d imagined something like the Spanish tortillas I enjoyed in Spain (oh, those were incredible!), quartered from a large pie shaped dish. Instead, this was more of a personal omelette, with chunks of potato, topped with Jamón (prosciutto) and a dollop of crème fraîche. The toasted sourdough was a highlight, especially paired with La Conviette salted butter, simple, rich, and very delicious.

We truly enjoyed our breakfast at The Rocks, it’s one of the places to head to if you are in Sydney!

Heavens above, I didn’t know anyone could wake up and function in the mornings without a huge mug of strong, strong, strong black coffee! No milk, no sugar, real taste !!! Thanks for the post – I live only about 120kms south of the CBD but have not got to the Rocks for ages – very come-hitherish this Saturday morning! The Florentine dish looks most inviting tho’ naturally one largely pays for being ‘there’ . . . be well . . . enjoy your Yule prep . . .

    1. I always have food envy and had it when my friend ordered the florentine!

*huge smile* Well, there is a huge way ‘out’ of the ‘food envy’ – order the dish yourself!
