The McNifica from McDonalds, Mexico City.

Regular readers will know whenever I travel I usually make a quick stop at a McDonalds, I have this obsession with finding out what they offer and if the old fave’s taste the same in other countries! It just so happens that a lot of readers like my McDonalds posts from India and Spain, so here is another, McDonalds review from Mexico!

So, I kind of have a plan when I go to Maccas overseas, a must have is some fries for comparison, and I’ll try a burger that is not available in Australia. If there is something else quite different on the menu, like gazpacho in Madrid or congee in Penang, I’ll grab that too. In Mexico, the menu wasn’t very daring or unusual (no crickets, grasshoppers or even a taco burger in sight) but the McNifica burger caught my attention.

McNifica McTrio MXN119

The lack of quintessentially Mexican options – there are the usual suspects such as Big Mac, McPollo (McChicken) and the Cuatro de Libre (which I expect is a quarter pounder) – are overshadowed by the uniqueness of the McNifica., I choose the McNifica, notable for having tomato which a lot of Maccas burgers don’t have. Priced at MXN119 (around AU$10.45), the McTrio (what we call a McValue meal) includes a burger, fries, and a medium drink, offering reasonable value.

McNifica & fries

Despite the limited quantity, these fries impress with their quality. Well salted, crispy, and flavourful, they stand among the best McDonald’s fries I’ve had. Seriously good!

McNifica

The McNifica is a visually appealing burger featuring a beef patty with cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, and tomato sauce. The fresh, toasted sesame seed bun complements the real BBQ grilled flavour of the beef. Though the thick tomato slices and abundant pickles are a bit much, overall, it’s a great burger!

For this Macca’s experience I give it:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

McDonald’s from around the world have such great menu items. Good memories of a pork teriyaki burger in Japan, and a limited edition spicy beef burger in Hong Kong with soccer ball shaped bun for the 2018 World Cup.
