With the help of Airservices Australia, of course!

A few day ago I was talking to my friend Johl whom I’ve known for around 12 years. He is an Air Traffic Controller based at Sydney Airport and he excitingly mentioned how this time of year always get so busy. I, surprised at his excitement of such busyness, reluctantly agreed and commented “visitors, travellers, those visiting family….. everybody wants to travel at this time of year!” while wondering what was so exiting…
“It’s Santa!” he said with an eye rolling sigh as if I was a non-believer in the red-velvet, white-faux-fur-trimmed jolly-man. In Australia, there are around 4 million aircraft movements per year, from almost a hundred airports across the country and even Santa, visiting around 9 million homes in Australia between sunset and sunrise on Christmas Eve, needs the best of the best to help plot, navigate and receive the most up to date information on weather and other aircraft movements, only Airservices Australia could provide no matter how strong Rudolf’s bright nose may be.

ATC Johl directed me to a short clip that has been made to help myself and other understand how safe Santa, and our skies, airports and all air traffic movements are, not only on Christmas Eve, but any time or day of the year, are very very safe.

The wonderful people at Airservices Australia also have a dedicated website for Santa’s visit. There is so many things we all don’t think about that Airservices Australia do, to keep our skies safe and, this wonderful great country moving, even when Santa (this year codename: REDSLED1) is in the air visiting all good kids (young and old). 😉
Merry Christmas to all my readers, my friends, family and those at Airservices Australia, without you, I couldn’t be freakyflier!
faux fur???? I can’t believe Santa would wear synthetics.
Hahaha, perhaps you are right dear friend! Merry Christmas! 🙂
Haha that is so cute! Of course there are huge logistics to get Santa around! 😛 Merry Christmas!!
