Fun at West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton, Canada – Day Three!

It’s our last day at the super-mall and although we are all getting a little ‘malled-out’ we are still in for surprises!

Breakfast at De Dutch

De Dutch is a British Columbian chain with is only store outside the province in Edmonton, Alberta. We’re here for breakfast, think the classics, eggs benny and French toast.

Breakfast platter Dutchman style from CA$16.24 – CA$20.79

I go for the breakfast platter dutchman style – two eggs and toast with a choice of two sides (choices are DeBakon, ham, sausage, turkey bacon, grilled mushrooms with tomatoes and Dutch cheese, Beyond Meat vegetable patty, avocado, potato hash, bratwurst or chorizo) – I go for the smoked wild BC salmon, potato hash and avocado. The dish is great, the salmon is deep red in colour and very tasty – I reckon Canada has the best salmon in the world! But I get food envy….

Dutch Benedict CA$16.74-CA$21.33

Cath chooses the Dutch Benedict. The can be served on a traditional Dutch rusk (kind of like a dryer harder english muffin) or an English muffin, Eggs done traditionally poacher or scrambled with hollandaise sauce and a choice of sides, salad, fruit, tomato or avocado. My food envy is cut short as we share both of our meals. The eggs benny is by far my favourite.

Dutch French toast CA$15.12

The kids go for a sugar hit breakfast – Dutch French toast – Hot cinnamon apples and icing sugar made with Cobs cinnamon bread and a choice of fruit topping (on the side) here we have raspberry…

…and the other choice of fruit was peach… yum!

Meanwhile, back at the Mall

It’s strange as I am starting to see people I had seen during the two days prior, this truly is a mall to spend your days in

The Lego Store

My nephew and I almost get lost in here, We spend more time than the girls of the group would like us too!

Its a fun store, he loves the life sized car…

Of course, I’m fascinated by the Titanic…

Ice Skating Rink

See I told you this mall has everything!

The ice skating rink is available for lessons or for hire, but that afternoon there is a hockey game happening.

We watch part of a game, its a local junior competition, being a Aussie, I am fascinated but have no idea of whats going on….my cousin tries to explain the rules in a few minutes, but it goes over my head!

Sea Lions’ Rock

A crowd pleaser for the kiddies is Sea Lions’ Rock.

Perhaps not the most conventional sight in a mall…and maybe I’d prefer to see them in their natural habitat, but it’s informative and a great way to introduce you to the conservation of these cheeky Californian sea lions.

The sea lions seemed to enjoy their time in the spotlight – or was it the fish?

This ends or 3 days visit to West Edmonton Mall – there is seriously something for everyone, young or old, rich or poor and it sure beats the below zero weather in Edmonton during winter!

  1. I love sharing food because you get to try more and there’s no food envy that way! Haha I love that you noticed people that you had seen the other days. Maybe everyone spends time at the mall! Or maybe they work there but who knows!
